My Name is Jony (Jaw-KNEE) and I was born in the great northwestern state called Oregon. I grew up in a household that sought the teachings and values of Jesus and His kingdom. I also grew up with parents who made the right call in getting me into piano lessons at a young age.
Fast forward a few years and I also picked up the guitar, bass, as well as singing. I loved making music but I didn’t realize that this was my calling until I had a transformative year at a small Bible school in 2013. Since then, I know without a sliver of doubt that I’m made to make music and glorify God through each string, note, Pro Tools session, and endless studio time I get in this life.
I moved to Redding, CA, to attend Bethel Church in hopes to squeeze into the worship community that I had admired for so long. One thing led to another and I became an intern for their broadcast audio department. This is where I grew to love music production and all the things done behind and below the stage. This is something I have devoted my life to in the two years I have been on the team at Bethel.
I love music and the connection it brings to each other and to God. What brings me most joy is knowing that the notes and melodies strung together in the work I do has a meaning and purpose that I can’t fathom. I know that whatever I put my hands on, God’s ever-smiling face is over me. And this is my deepest longing: to make His face shine on you too.
